If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it? - Albert Einstein

Universities

Helen successfully completed her PhD in Linguistic Science from the University of York in 2001 and continued to work in the department in which she had been a student until 2003. Her research, in language variation and change, was conducted using a quantitative approach and saw her conducting fieldwork, all manner of data management, transcription, coding and analysis as well as writing for publication, presenting at national and international conferences and working on a local organising committee for an international conference. Whilst researching, Helen also built up a stock of teaching experiences in both large and small group contexts where she designed and delivered tutorials, seminars and lectures as well as setting and marking examinations and other assessments.

The majority of Helen’s experience as a facilitator is within the Higher Education sector and she has worked with thousands of PhD students, research staff and senior researchers since she moved into training and development in 2003. She has experience in working with every area of the Researcher Development Framework and is particularly strong in the areas of Knowledge & Intellectual Abilities, Personal Effectiveness and Engagement, Influence & Impact.
